How to Pick the Right CTE Program and Instructor
Career and Technical Education is a great college choice for 2023 high school graduates. Talk about a good return on investment, career and technical students can usually graduate in two years or less, and in many instances, they can demand a salary that will make some university graduates green with envy. I recently gave some advice to a family friend who has chosen CTE as their college choice. I am not a education philosophy scholar by any means, but I have spent over 20 years in career and technical education as a student, instructor and department chair at various points. I thought it may be helpful to someone else who is thinking choosing a career path in CTE. Read more…

Education As A Component Of Sustainability
Typically, sustainability is viewed in terms of taking actions to mitigate the impact of our economy and industries in terms of reducing negative effects on the environment. Whether it is a 4-year college program or a degree from our trade/technical colleges, education is an often overlooked factor in sustainability. Education allows people to gain skills, knowledge and values to live more sustainably. It promotes economic development and helps alleviate poverty.
How To Reduce Carbon Footprint of Coolants
We rely on petroleum bases for many of our products. That reliance presents a challenge when we study methods to mitigate our carbon footprint. As posted earlier in this blog section, we have invested in carbon offsets which invest in projects involving clean energy and reforestation of areas in developing countries.
AI IS HERE TO STAY
I’ve been hearing quite a lot about AI and ChatGPT New chat (openai.com). I wanted to get a feel for what it can do, so I threw a softball at it, just to see what I would get back. As part of our own sustainability initiative, we are making changes in our offices and plant to reduce/reuse/recycle. I asked ChatGPT what the best practices would be for an office setting, and what I got back was quite useful, and reasonable to put into practice.
Paying It Forward
Our distribution and application partner, Brad Thompson of Dura-Crust is a busy guy. When he’s not selling or consulting applications of dust control products, he leads a charity supporting those in need. Monroe Fluid Technology is proud to be associated with people like Brad who PAY IT FORWARD.
Great Article in Modern Machine Shop on Managing Coolant
Bacteria-riddled coolant can clog machines and sicken machinists. Devices such as skimmers and coalescers can slow bacteria growth—as can automated coolant maintenance devices. Read more about coolant maintenance tips and devices in an article which appeared in the February 2023 issue of Modern Machine Shop.
How to Dispose of Aerosol Cans
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) believes that the management of hazardous waste aerosol cans can be best implemented through a universal waste approach where handlers operate within a streamlined management system with regulatory oversight. On December 9, 2019, the EPA finalized the rule to add Aerosol Cans to the federal list of Universal Wastes.
Why We Are A Carbon-Neutral Company?

The consequences of global warming are becoming increasingly tangible and the pressure on politicians and companies is growing; not in the least due to the Fridays for Future movement.
Protecting Your Most Important Asset: CNC Operators
The metalworking industry, like so many sectors of the American manufacturing industry, faces a shortage of skilled workers. While we are experiencing this shortage, there are ways to protect the operators you have: preventing potential worker safety and health issues should be a focus of management.
As a coolant manufacturer, we have a recommendation to assist you and help keep your employees on the job.
